Glass Work

glass1Glass beads have been made by hand for thousands of years. I follow ancient techniques using modern tools, in my case an oxygen/natural gas Barracuda torch. I melt glass rods over the flame and form and decorate them with metals, powders, and colored glass, or blow beads from glass tubing. I have also done some larger wall pieces in borosilicate glass, small elements constructed singly and then ‘welded’ onto the larger framework.

My flameworked pieces are both sculptural and conceptual in design.
