Leslie Kaplan

Leslie Kaplan, princial of Rush Creek Designs, specializes in residential garden design and horticultural consulting.     Leslie is a knowledgeable horticulturist and has been a Master Gardener with the Phipps Garden Center since 1997.   Leslie has assisted more than 100 clients with their gardens since her business was established in 1996.  Leslie teaches classes at the Phipps Garden Center regularly, most recently Shade Gardening, Tree and Shrub Indentification, and Designing a Native Mixed Border, as well as ‘Woody Ornamentals’ and ‘Garden Design’ in the Master Gardener’s curriculm.


Leslie Kaplan is the former Chairman of the Plant Sale Committee for the Botanic Garden of Western Pennsylvania, and now serves as the plant buyer for the annual catalog and sale that nets $18,000 for the Society.  Leslie is dedicated in her personal and professional life to bringing new, unusual and underutilized plants into her gardens.

Leslie Kaplan holds a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning (UNC-Chapel Hill) and a Bachelor’s in History from the Ohio State University.
